INGREDIENTS:
Coconut flakes- 1.5 cups
Roasted chana dal( Pottu kadalai)- 0.75 cups
Green chillies-3-5
Coriander stems/leaves- to disguise the yukky brown color of dry coconut
Asafoetida- 3 puffs
tamarind paste
Ingredients for seasoning(thadka):
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
chana dal-1 tsp
split urad dal- 1 1/2 tsp
curry leaves- A bunch
PROCEDURE:
- Grind the ingredients into a smooth paste in a mixie or blender. Add the ingredients that have been tampered in oil and mix to the paste.
- Serve with hot idlies or dosas.
Tip: You can soak some almonds for sometime and grind along with the chutney for some extra texture and health.
You can also add a little bit of sesame oil after grinding for extra taste.
